We experienced Hanoi on foot, walking around the lake and visited the Ho Chi Minh museum and outside of the mausoleum while there. It was a difficult place to run; the traffic is busy at 6am and it wasn’t pleasant breathing in the fumes.
Hanoi is great at night; the streets are vibrant and people flood there to eat at the street stalls and to do their late night shopping (for the locally made North Face attire!!). We were lucky to be there on a Friday and Saturday night when the roads are closed to vehicles around the old quarter. It was really pleasant not to be dodging the motorbikes continually so Beth and I decided to eat Street food. We shared a seafood platter self cooked in coconut oil. It was cool bring amongst the hustle and bustle in Hanoi.
We caught up with our travelling buddies, Fabien and Christina, and watched some of the live street music with a 20p beer 😛
