Our next adventure began in Kalaw but first we had an interesting journey to get there. On several occasions the driver tried to convince us passengers to have local kids, travelling for free, sit on our laps. It didn’t happen but he still stopped many times to load the bus with produce and fill the front seats with locals. On the upside, we met a bunch of travellers on the minibus, who told us all about their travels around South East Asia, and recommended some destinations in Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. We’re now considering adding Thailand to our trip too 🙂
Kalaw was a welcome break from dusty Bagan and the fresh mountain air energised our lungs. We shared the sunset on the roof of the hotel with our new found friends from New Zealand, Germany and Bournemouth that we met on the minibus. The trek to Inle Lake commenced the following day.
